WORK WITH US
Your journey to achievement begins with you. Let’s unlock what’s possible, together.

Psychotherapy with Lauren
Therapy with me isn’t about checking boxes or just talking in circles—it’s about creating real, meaningful change in your life. As a clinical social worker, I bring a blend of Family Systems Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to our work together, helping you untangle challenges, break old patterns, and build a life that feels more aligned with who you truly are.

Here’s how these approaches can support you:
Family Systems Therapy – Whether or not your family is in the room, they’ve shaped how you see yourself and the world. This approach helps us explore those deep-rooted dynamics—so you can heal old wounds, set healthier boundaries, and navigate relationships with more confidence and clarity.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) – Sometimes, our thoughts keep us stuck in cycles of stress, self-doubt, or anxiety. CBT helps us notice those patterns, reframe unhelpful beliefs, and practice real, doable shifts that make everyday life feel better.

I’m also a Certified Trauma Professional, which means I hold space for past experiences—without judgment, without rushing you—so you can process what’s shaped you and move forward in a way that feels safe and empowering.

What Therapy with Me Looks Like:
Getting Started – We begin with an intake session where I get to know you—your story, what’s been weighing on you, and what you hope to get out of therapy. This is a space for you to take a deep breath and just be.

Mapping Your Road Ahead – Together, we craft a personalized roadmap (aka your treatment goals) that focuses on where you are now and where you want to be in the near and far future.

Ongoing Sessions – This is where the real work happens. Some days, it’ll be about processing big emotions. Other times, we’ll focus on learning practical skills to navigate stress, relationships, career shifts, or personal growth. No matter what, therapy is your space to take up as much room as you need—you deserve that.
If you’re ready to feel more grounded, clear, and in control of your next steps, I’d love to support you.

Fertility Consultations
Family building through fertility treatment or third-party reproduction is often filled with hope, complexity, and decisions that carry both emotional and practical weight. Whether you're an intended parent, gestational carrier, egg or sperm donor, or exploring surrogacy or donor conception as an LGBTQIA+ family, you deserve support that’s informed, affirming, and nonjudgmental.

I provide fertility consultations that meet the requirements of most reproductive endocrinology clinics, including one-time 90-minute psychosocial evaluations with a written report sent to your care team. These consultations include the interview, clinical impressions, and a formal letter or report. If you're local to Central PA, in-person consultations may be available.
These sessions are a space to explore motivations, expectations, boundaries, roles, and potential emotional considerations—while also honoring the personal and relational aspects of this journey. My approach centers respect, clarity, and compassion, with deep care for the diverse ways families are created.

I’ve walked this road myself and understand how important it is to feel safe, seen, and supported. Whether you’re looking for a required consultation, an affirming therapist to talk through your experience, or a guide who understands the emotional landscape of assisted reproduction—I’m here to help.

If you’re an intended parent(s) working with a known donor, current guidelines recommend completing multiple consultations as part of the process. Please reach out to learn more about what’s involved, what to expect during each session, and to receive details about cost and scheduling.

What is your cancellation policy?
How often do we meet for therapy?
We recommend starting with weekly sessions to build momentum and support your growth. As you reach your goals, we can gradually space sessions to every other week, then monthly, until we feel the work is complete. Our aim is not to create dependence, but to help you connect with your own inner strengths and external support systems.
We encourage meeting weekly for at least the first three months to establish a strong foundation.
We ask that you let us know at least 24-hours in advance of the need to cancel via email at: contact@storyofthingstherapy.com so that we may offer the spot to someone else and plan accordingly.
If you cancel with less than 24-hours notice you will be charged the full session fee. Please note that this fee is typically not covered by insurance if seeking reimbursement.
Are the sessions confidential?
What if it doesn't feel like a good fit?
Absolutely, maintaining confidentiality is our utmost priority. All conversations and discussions during the session(s) are kept strictly private and are never disclosed or shared with any third party without your written consent.
It’s totally okay.
Sometimes, just like in any relationship, things don’t quite click.
One of the biggest predictors of meaningful therapy is feeling a sense of connection, trust, and alignment. If it doesn’t feel like the right fit—with me or the style of therapy—I welcome an open conversation about it. This is your care, and your comfort matters most. If needed, I’m always happy to support you in finding someone who feels like a better match.
