Hey there, I'm Lauren (she/her)

Trauma Therapist, Clinical Supervisor, & Founder of Story of Things Therapy & Consulting, LLC

You’ve tried to make it better on your own — with books, podcasts, reflection. And still, something feels heavy. Therapy can be a place to exhale, to explore what’s underneath, and to move at your own pace toward feeling more like yourself again.

I’m a queer therapist, mom, and overthinker turned meaning-maker—and I believe the stories we carry shape how we see ourselves, our relationships, and the paths we choose.

I specialize in working with adults navigating identity, life transitions, and the complicated, often tender process of growing a family—especially within the LGBTQIA+ community. Whether you’re exploring your gender or sexuality, unpacking the stress of caregiving or career change, or walking the winding road of fertility, I offer a space where all parts of you are welcome.

I’ve walked through transitions that reshape your identity, from fertility challenges to caregiving to being a queer parent. I know what it’s like to carry big emotions while still showing up for everyone else.

Before becoming a therapist, I worked in leadership roles where I witnessed just how much we all crave being seen and supported. Now, I help people rewrite old narratives, connect with their values, and move through uncertainty with more self-trust and confidence. My approach is relational, affirming, and rooted in the belief that healing happens when we feel safe enough to be honest—with ourselves and with each other.

Therapy with me won’t be about fixing you. You’re not broken. It’s about making space for your becoming.

Outside of sessions, you’ll find me chasing joy (and snacks) with my wife and kids, reading too many books at once, and trying to spend more time outside than online.

If you're ready to feel a little more like yourself again, or you’re not sure who that is yet, I’d be honored to walk with you.

Hi! I am Ashlee (she/her)

I am a licensed social worker, program strategist & manager, and therapist who’s passionate about building systems of care that actually care.

While I’m not currently accepting therapy clients, I bring years of clinical and community health experience to the behind-the-scenes work at Story of Things. From designing wellness programs to supporting families through complex transitions, I’ve spent my career focused on both the personal and the systemic—where emotional well-being meets policy, planning, and prevention.

I’m especially interested in how we create affirming, accessible care for LGBTQIA+ individuals, caregivers, and anyone navigating identity and health-related change. I’ve worked with diverse communities as a therapist, health promotion specialist, and medical social worker, always aiming to connect the dots between what people need and what systems should be doing to support them.

When I’m not thinking in spreadsheets or storylines, I’m likely spending time with my wife Lauren (yep, that Lauren), our kids, and our growing plant collection. I’m a detail-oriented big-picture thinker who believes healing happens in community—and that every wellness journey deserves thoughtful design behind it.
